The ridge above the country club — one of Lake Oswego’s original planned neighborhoods, still wooded, still quiet.
In the 1920s the Ladd Estate Company began building the Country Club District, a planned departure from the street grid of Lake Oswego’s First Addition. Its centerpiece was a golf course designed by H. Chandler Egan — the designer behind Pebble Beach — laid out along the ridge that is today’s Uplands. The Oswego Lake Country Club was completed in 1924.
Some of the neighborhood’s original homes still stand, dating to the late 1920s and 1930s on streets like Ridgecrest, Glen Eagles, Twin Fir, Uplands Drive and Egan Way. The land slopes east to the country club, north to Country Club Road and west to Boones Ferry, and a large share of the neighborhood is open space and park.
What buyers ask me most here: whether a lot carries lake rights. Some Uplands deeds include easement access to Oswego Lake’s swim and boat parks, and some do not — it is worth confirming before you fall for a house.
